Vermont Air National Guard Air Show, August 20, 2006

The Vermont Air National Guard and the City of Burlington sponsored an air show on the waterfront of Lake Champlain this year. The building I work at just happens to also be on the waterfront. So, for the week leading up to the air show, we had jets and planes buzzing by overhead on their practice runs. Let me tell you, I can only imagine how the people in Iraq felt as the bombers flew overhead. Everyone in our office was a little punchy just from the planes flying overhead, nevermind gunfire and bombs going off everywhere.

A couple of people in our company went up to the roof one day to watch the fighters practice. They were flying so low, that they were able to get some amazing pictures.

F4U Corsair: An American fighter aircraft that saw service in World War II and the Korean War. The F4U-4 version is seen by some as the leading candidate for the "best fighter/bomber of WWII."

F-15 Strike Eagle: A modern United States all-weather strike fighter, designed for long- range interdiction of enemy ground targets deep behind enemy lines. Visually, the Strike Eagle can be distinguished from the standard F-15 by the fighter's dark 'Gunship Gray' paint.

F-86 Super Sabre: A transonic combat aircraft developed for the US Air Force. The F-86 was developed in the 1940s following the end of World War II and was one of the most-produced western jet fighters.

USAF Thunderbirds F-16 Fighting Falcons

The Thunderbirds are the Air Demonstration Squadron of the United States Air Force. As such, they tour the United States and much of the world, performing aerobatic formation and solo flying in specially-marked USAF jet aircraft.
